What happens when women come together, paddle with purpose, and rally behind an important cause? You make waves.
On August 1, 2026, the Nisa Warriors took to the water for the Al-Noor Dragon Boat Race at the Welland International Flatwater Centre. What started as a race became a powerful celebration of community, sisterhood, and support for single mothers rebuilding their lives.
And Alhamdulillah, we had plenty to celebrate.
The Nisa Warriors proudly finished 4th place in the Women's Division, but our biggest win happened off the water.
Together, our team and supporters raised an incredible $14,960 to support single mothers and their children through Nisa Foundation.
Every paddle stroke, donation, cheer, and helping hand helped bring us closer to this incredible milestone.
Every day, single mothers in our communities can face impossible choices, between paying rent and putting food on the table, staying in an unsafe situation and facing homelessness, or struggling alone and reaching out for help.
At Nisa Foundation, we work to make sure women and children don't have to face these challenges alone.
Funds raised through the Nisa Warriors campaign help provide safe shelter, counselling, food support, financial assistance, and life-changing programs for women and children rebuilding their lives after crisis.
Behind every dollar is the opportunity to help a mother find stability, support a child through a difficult transition, and give a family the resources they need to move forward.
The Al-Noor Dragon Boat Race was more than a day of competition, it was an opportunity to bring the community together in support of women and children. This year marked the first time the Al-Noor Dragon Boat Race was held in Canada, bringing teams together through sport, community, and a shared commitment to giving back.
For the Nisa Warriors, every paddle had a purpose: raising funds and awareness for single mothers rebuilding their lives after hardship. The race gave our community a chance to come together, have fun, challenge ourselves, and turn that collective energy into meaningful support for mothers and their children.
