At Nisa Homes, we provide more than just shelter—we create a place of safety, healing, and new beginnings for domestic violence survivors across Canada. These homes serve as a foundation of empowerment, offering hope to the vulnerable, rebuilding the broken, and restoring dignity to those in need. We believe that every woman and every child deserves a secure, supportive environment where they can heal, grow, and rebuild their lives with confidence.
That’s why we run nine homes across Canada—in Mississauga, Scarborough, Hamilton, Windsor, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Montreal, and Ottawa. We offer services in six different languages—English, Arabic, Urdu, Somali, Farsi, and Gujarati—so that every woman and child feels welcome and supported. Our homes provide care, guidance, and essential services to help residents move forward with confidence.
We provide a variety of programs and support to meet the needs of those in our care:
Our team helps women and families create plans for a better future, connecting them to resources and support systems that fit their unique situations. Each caseworker will work one to one to provide structured support for clients to secure income, employment, and housing.
Each of our homes has a registered counsellor who provides confidential and supportive counselling to help women and children work through trauma and build emotional strength and resilience.
We offer activities and educational support to help children and youth grow, learn, and feel supported in a positive environment. Many of them have experienced trauma, and these programs allow them to express and work through their emotions in a creative and constructive way.
From budgeting to job training and self-care, we teach skills that help women regain confidence and independence. Some professional growth opportunities available to the clients include art therapy, cooking, English classes, and more!
We provide clients with assistance in accessing financial support for rent, childcare, transportation, and other essentials to ease the transition to stability.
We make sure no one in our homes goes without meals, clothing, and basic hygiene products—so they can focus on their future without worry.
While residents are staying with us, we connect them with community resources and provide essential information. This allows them to stay supported even after leaving our homes!
Faith is an important part of many of our residents’ lives. We connect many of our clients to support groups and community referrals to nurture faith and healing.
We couldn’t do this work without the incredible generosity of our partners and grantors. Their support allows us to keep our homes running and continue providing care to women and children in need.
There are many ways to help! Whether it’s through donations, volunteering, or spreading the word, your support can change lives.
Let’s work together to make sure every woman and child has a safe, caring place to turn to.
