Celebrating Eid at Nisa Homes: Creating Joy and Dignity for Women and Children 🌙

Eid at Nisa Homes

Eid is one of the most joyful times of the year, and at Nisa Homes special care is taken to ensure it feels just as meaningful for the women and children living in the shelter.

For many residents, life has not been easy. They have faced difficult circumstances and are in the process of rebuilding their lives. Because of this, celebrations like Eid carry even greater significance. At Nisa Homes, the goal is to create an environment where residents can experience the happiness, excitement, and sense of belonging that comes with preparing for Eid.

From decorating the home to organizing the annual Eid Souq, each part of the celebration is designed to help women and children feel valued, supported, and celebrated.

‍

Decorating the Home for Eid

The celebrations begin before Eid day arrives. The home is decorated to create a festive and welcoming atmosphere for the residents.

Decorating the house becomes a meaningful group activity. The Child & Youth Worker works together with the children to decorate the children’s area, while staff and residents decorate the main living spaces. Together, everyone helps transform the house into a warm and joyful environment filled with Eid spirit.

These small moments of preparation bring laughter, connection, and a shared sense of celebration throughout the home.

‍

The Eid Souq

One of the most meaningful parts of Eid at Nisa Homes is the Eid Souq.

The purpose of the Eid Souq is to create a warm, respectful, and joyful experience where residents and children can prepare for Eid while feeling valued, supported, and included.

When residents enter the Souq, they are given a large gift bag. From that moment, they can walk around, explore the items, and choose whatever they like, placing their selections into their bag.

Everything at the Eid Souq is completely free. Residents do not pay anything. Every item has been donated by generous supporters. All items are brand new, and the tags remain on the clothing. A wide range of sizes, colors, and styles are available so every woman has options and can choose something she truly likes.

For many residents, this experience is deeply meaningful. Being able to choose something for themselves, whether it is a dress, a scarf, or an accessory, helps restore a sense of dignity, independence, and excitement while preparing for Eid.

‍

A Special Eid Experience for Children

Children also have their own special section of the Eid Souq, organized by the Child & Youth Worker. Gifts are beautifully displayed, and each child receives their own gift bag. They are invited to explore the gifts and choose what they like most.

The excitement on their faces as they carefully look through the gifts and place their choices into their bags is truly heartwarming. For these children, it becomes a magical moment, one that feels just like any other child preparing for Eid.

‍

Henna, Festive Moments, and Shared Joy

Beyond the gifts, traditional touches are also part of the celebration. Henna, festive decorations, and shared activities help create a joyful atmosphere throughout the home.

These moments allow residents to relax, laugh, and create happy memories together.

‍

The Day of Eid and Eid Salah

Support for residents continues on Eid day itself. On the morning of Eid, rides are arranged for each family or individual resident so they can attend Eid Salah. Once residents finish prayer, transportation is arranged for their return to the home.

When everyone returns, a festive Eid lunch is ordered for residents to enjoy together.

It becomes a beautiful moment of community as everyone gathers to eat, talk, and celebrate the day.

‍

Made Possible by the Generosity of Supporters

Eid celebrations at Nisa Homes are made possible through the incredible generosity of supporters and donors in the community.

Each contribution, whether it is clothing, accessories, gifts, or gift cards, helps create a joyful experience for the women and children living at the home.

Because of this generosity, residents who have gone through difficult circumstances are able to experience the joy of Eid in a way that feels special, dignified, and uplifting.

At Nisa Homes, Eid becomes more than a holiday. It becomes a reminder that compassion, community support, and kindness can create moments of happiness that truly make a difference.

Every smile, every joyful moment, and every carefully chosen gift at Nisa Homes is a testament to the kindness and support of our community. The generosity of donors ensures that women and children who have faced challenges can feel celebrated, valued, and included during Eid. Supporting Nisa Foundation, through gifts, donations, or simply spreading awareness, helps create these meaningful experiences and ensures that the spirit of Eid reaches those who need it most. Each act of compassion contributes to a celebration filled with dignity, joy, and lasting memories.

Spread Joy for Women & Children
